Biography

David Bisbal Ferré (born on June 5, 1979) is a Spanish singer who jumped to stardom after his participation on the first season of reality TV talent show Operación Triunfo. Born and raised in Almería, Bisbal’s music career started as the lead singer of local outfit Orquesta Expresiones. In 2001, he auditioned for TVE’s Operación Triunfo, where he became a fan favorite and finished in second place after Rosa López. His participation in the show led to the release of the blockbuster Corazón Latino (2002), his studio debut. The album’s overwhelming success earned Bisbal his first Latin Grammy in the category of Best New Artist and achieved diamond status after selling more than 1 million copies. He followed up with Bulería (2004), another hit-packed effort that climbed to the top of the charts both in his native Spain and in Latin America, establishing Bisbal as a major figurehead in Latin pop music. The star-studded Premonición (2006) ensued, featuring collaborations with legendary flamenco guitarist Tomatito, Vicente Amigo, and Wisin & Yandel. In subsequent years, Bisbal’s international fame grew considerably, leading to high-profile duets with Rihanna (“Hate That I Love You”) and Miley Cyrus (“Te Miro a Tí”), and sold-out performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall and New York’s Carnegie Hall. More success followed with Tú y yo (2014) and Hijos del Mar (2017), both of which were certified platinum in several countries and . En Tus Planes (2020), which featured collaborations with Sebastián Yatra, Alejandro Fernández, and Greeicy, found the singer mixing his tried-and-true formula with reggaeton and urban pop music to great critical and commercial results.
