The Huṣht ("Hushed") are a psychedelic pop/rock indie band. Their sound has been described as a blend of Nirvana and Death Cab for Cutie with a twist of Pink Floyd. The band does not pigeonhole itself stylistically, as there are too many experiences and emotions to constrain their expression with one musical genre. Rock, pop, rap, psychedelic—you're sure to find something in their catalog that speaks to you.
The heart and soul of The Huṣht is Philip Wright. He was the entire "band" from 2016 to 2023. He has been a key player in the Sacramento music community in a variety of ways, including coaching local youth bands, recording up-and-coming artists, and currently embodying the spirit and voice of Ric Ocasek in The Used Cars, a popular Northern California tribute to The Cars (www.thecarsband.com). Philip won the Pop Song of the Year award for "Virtual Girl" from his record label in 2024, inspiring him to finally assemble a full band to perform live concerts. "Virtual Girl" has also been featured numerous times on The Bob Cesca Show, a wildly popular political podcast.
The lineup is Jeffry-Wynne Prince on bass guitar, Aaron Geoffroy on lead guitar, Vicki Pike on drums, and Philip Wright on guitar, synth, and vocals. All are seasoned musicians with accomplishments too lengthy to list. The synergy of the group takes the songs to a new level, so if you like the studio recordings, you'll love the live show!
