Biography

The hard-rock band Dead Sara was formed by teenage songwriters Emily Armstrong and Siouxsie Medley in 2002 in Los Angeles, California. "Changes," the group's debut song, was released in 2004, introducing the hard-hitting, punky style that would later turn rock icons like Dave Grohl and Courtney Love into Dead Sara's champions. Following a tour with Endless Hallway in 2007, the group signed with Viscount Records and released an EP, The Airport Sessions, in 2008. Drummer Sean Friday and bassist Chris Null joined in 2009, finalizing Dead Sara's lineup and appearing on a national tour supporting Bush in 2011. One year later, the band released its self-titled debut album, Dead Sara. Led by the single "Weatherman," which reached Number 30 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, the album charted at Number 16 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers. Pleasure to Meet You followed in 2015, peaking at Number 2 on the Heatseekers chart, Number 17 on Billboard's Independent Albums, and Number 33 on Top Rock Albums. A popular EP, Temporary Things Taking Up Space, was released in 2018, marking the band's first release for Atlantic Records and featuring the singles "Unamerican" and "Heaven's Got a Back Door." Dead Sara's third album, Ain't It Tragic, followed in 2021.
