Jamaican singer, songwriter, and performer Winston McAnuff, aka Electric Dread, radiates a deep voice, raw energy, and a magnetic presence that transcend genres and generations.
Born in Christiana, Jamaica, he grew up between church harmonies and roots reggae. In the 1970s, he recorded his first classics before becoming a cult figure, later rediscovered by a new generation in the 2000s.
Revealed in Europe by the French label Makasound, Winston blends reggae, soul, and rock with instinctive groove and emotion, from Paris Rockin’ (with Java) to collaborations with Camille Bazbaz, Matthieu Chedid or Tiken Jah Fakoly.
On stage, he doesn’t just perform — he ignites. True to his name Electric Dread, he electrifies every venue, from underground clubs to major festivals, carrying messages of peace, unity, and resilience.
He remains the only Jamaican artist nominated at the Victoires de la Musique, a recognition to his talent and influence in France.
