The Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer known as Omah Lay was born Stanley Omah Didia on May 19, 1997, in the city of Ikwerre, Rivers State. He grew up in a music-loving household and began performing in a rap group under the name Lil King. Thanks to the success of his self-produced 2019 singles "Do Not Disturb" and "Hello Brother," Omah Lay landed a record deal with the label KeyQaad and broke into the mainstream in early 2020 with the viral single "Bad Influence." By the end of the year, the track had become the most-streamed Nigerian song on the Apple Music platform and established Omah Lay as a bona fide hitmaker. His debut EP, Get Layd, appeared a few months later and shot straight to the top of the charts in Nigeria, with all of its 5 tracks reaching the domestic Top 15. A second extended-play titled What Have We Done followed in November of that year, reaching similar levels of success. In 2022, after collaborating with fellow Nigerian singer Alpha P on a remix of Justin Bieber's "Peaches," Omah Lay invited the Canadian pop star to feature on "Attention," the third single from his studio debut, Boy Alone. "Attention" reached Number 45 on the Canadian Hot 100 and charted in Ireland, New Zealand, Sweden, and the UK.
