The Frightenrs were formed in Queens, New York, in 2010, influenced as much by soul as by dub. They first came to prominence with a famous Etta James cover, "I'd Rather Go Blind", in 2015, while their label Daptone Records had long nurtured the desire to make an album in collaboration with Victor Axelrod aka Ticklah, in order to return to the origins of rocksteady. The result of this association led in 2016 to The Frightnrs' debut album, entitled Nothing More to Say. Sadly, the adventure came to an abrupt end for singer Dan Klein, who died shortly before the summer of the same year of Charcot's disease. He thus missed out on the success of the album, which topped the American reggae charts in September 2016.
