Biography

Born in Tehran, Iran, on April 23, 1977, Arash Labaf is best-known as Sweden-based singer and producer Arash. Along with Aysel Teymurzadeh, he represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 - their song, “Always”, finished third. Arash’s career began in 2004 with the hit single “Boro Boro”, followed the next year by his debut album Arash. The album, which hit Number 17 on the Swedish charts, featured more hit singles including “Tike Tike Kardi”, and “Temptation” (featuring Rebecca), both of which reached Number 2 on the Swedish singles chart. Alongside his successes in Sweden and Iran, Arash’s records began charting in Eastern Europe and South-East Europe countries like Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Greece, Hungary, and Bulgaria as well as in Asian countries like Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and in other neighboring regions. Arash released his second album, Donya, in 2008. The album featured the hit singles “Suddenly” (featuring Rebecca) and “Pure Love” (featuring Helena). Arash followed that up with “Always”, the 2009 Eurovision collaboration with Aysel Teymurzadeh. The song, representing Azerbaijan, came in third place. In 2012, Arash released the album Superman, which featured the hit single “She Makes Me Go” (featuring Sean Paul). Since the Superman album, Arash continued to collaborate with many artists including Snoop Dogg (“OMG”), Mohombi (“Dooset Daram”), and Nyusha, Pitbull, and Bianco (“Goalie Goalie”). In January 2020, Arash became a judge on the reality television show Persia’s Got Talent. Arash also returned with the single “Mary Jane” under the name Arash vs Ilkay Sencan.
