Biography

A pianist and passionate, pop-influenced songwriter, Andrew McMahon launched his career as the teenage frontman of Something Corporate before releasing solo albums under two different monikers — Jack's Mannequin and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness — during the years that followed. He was born on September 3, 1982, in Concord, Massachusetts, and moved with his family to California before high school. While still in high school, he formed Something Corporate, a band whose unique mix of upright piano and electric guitars earned attention from punk-pop audiences. Something Corporate signed with Drive-Thru records and ultimately joined the roster of MCA/Geffen, releasing 2002's Leaving Through the Window and 2003's North along the way. Despite establishing a passionate cult following, the group split up in 2004. McMahon began pursuing a solo career with 2005's Everything In Transit, which was billed to his new project, Jack's Mannequin. Two additional records followed under the Jack's Mannequin name, both of them debuting in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. In 2014, McMahon turned a new page with Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, the self-titled debut of his next solo venture. The album included "Cecilia and the Satellite," which became a Top 10 hit on multiple American charts, including Alternative Airplay, Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, and Adult Alternative Airplay. 2017's Zombies on Broadway and 2018's Upside Down Flowers followed, along with Top 40 rock singles like 2017's "So Close," 2018's "Ohio," and 2022's "Stars."
