American singer and
songwriter Nicole C. Mullen is a contemporary gospel singer who has been active
since 1991. Born January 3th 1967 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mullen was originally a backing singer at the Christ for the Nations Institute
in Dallas, Texas, before landing a recording contract with Frontline Records and
releasing her debut album, Don't Let Me
Go, in 1991. She continued to sing backup for Christian contemporary
artists such as Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, and the Newsboys, as well as
releasing her second record, Wish Me Love,
in 1992 and a self-titled album in 2000. Her vocals have also appeared on
children's television series Yo! Kids
and Veggies Tales. After signing to
Word Records in 1998 she released her fourth album, Talk About It, which went on to sell half a million copies. She won
Female Vocalist of the Year at the GMA Dove Awards in 2002 and 2005 and
released her first live album, Live from
Cincinnati: Bringin' It Home, in 2003. Mullen was inducted into the
Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2011 and has been nominated for two Grammy
Awards for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year in 2002 and 2005. She
is also active with the Christian relief organization, Compassion
International.
