Wales' answer to the Wu-Tang Clan came dripping in baseball caps, tracksuits and enough 8-carat gold jewellery to impress any ASBO-carrying, local chav. Formed when P. Xain aka Rhys recruited his slacker mates Eggsy and Adam Hussein to apply their tongue-in-cheek, stoner raps to his homemade beats and samples, the group's demos became a cult hit around home town Newport. The collective grew to eight members before East West Records bosses overheard rockers The Darkness playing GLC songs on their tour bus and snapped them up. Debut album Greatest Hits (2004) - titled Straight Outta Newport in the US - produced the UK Number 3 hit single Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do and in 2005 the lads went on to perform at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium before a Wales vs England soccer match, dedicating the track Your Missus Is A Nutter to David Beckham. In 2006 Maggot took part in Celebrity Big Brother finishing in third place, but the band were dropped from their recording contract and forced to release later albums Under The Counter (2008) and Asbo4Life (2009) on their own independent label Gold Dust Records.
