Tobias Jesso Jr.

Hailing from North Vancouver, Canada, singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. appeared in 2014 with the song "Hollywood", and was immediately compared to elders such as John Lennon, Elton John and Randy Newman. Also a multi-instrumentalist, Tobias Jesso Jr. left Canada in 2008 for Los Angeles, California, where he was hired as a bassist for a pop artist. He didn't like the job, but stayed four years in sunny California. Returning to Canada to care for his ailing mother, he began to recount his Californian experiences through a series of songs accompanied by piano. Tobias Jesso Jr. records the demo of "Just a Dream" and sends it to Chet White of Girls. The response is enthusiastic, and Tobias Jesso Jr. heads to San Francisco to record his first album. Spotted by the international trade press with the release of the single "Hollywood" in November 2014, Tobias Jesso Jr. finalizes the album Goon with Ariel Rechtstaid and Patrick Carney of The Black Keys. Goon is released in March 2015 on the True Panther label.
