Pihka Is My Name are a Finland-based duo who combine analogue synthesizers, hypnotic piano patterns and cinematic orchestrations. Band members are composer-pianist Henna Helasvuo and producer-sound designer Lasse Turunen.
The band is fronted by animation character called Pihka, an imaginary friend who is not needed anymore. She finds herself forgotten in a snow covered forest, sets off on an adventure and sees all the busy humans with their problems, the most pressing of which is the Climate Emergency.
“Pihka is my name, but who am I? I was left alone, I was abandoned. I was imagined by this boy who had no friends. I was his imaginary friend. I was. He doesn’t need an imaginary friend anymore. I am happy for him… but where will I go now? What will I do? Am I needed in this world?
