René & Angela, an American R&B duo consisting of René Moore and Angela Winbush, formed in 1977. The pair began their music career with a self-titled debut album René & Angela released in 1980 under Capitol Records. Their subsequent albums included Wall to Wall (1981) and Rise (1983), both also released on Capitol Records. In 1985, they moved to Mercury Records for the release of their final album together, 1985's Street Called Desire. The duo is best remembered for their hit song "I'll Be Good" from this album. Despite the success of Street Called Desire, René & Angela disbanded by the end of 1986 due to internal conflicts and disagreements. Following their split, both Moore and Winbush pursued successful solo careers as performers, songwriters, and producers. Notable posthumous releases include the compilation albums The Best of René & Angela: Come My Way (1996) and Classic Masters (2002). The duo's work has been recognized with a RIAA Gold certification for their album René & Angela. Winbush went on to score five top ten R&B hits as a solo artist, including "Angel" and "Run to Me". She also wrote and/or produced songs for notable artists such as The Isley Brothers, Sheena Easton, Stephanie Mills, and Lalah Hathaway. Moore contributed his songwriting and production talents to Michael Jackson's albums Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995), and later formed Multi-Media Communications, which operated radio stations from 2008 to 2012.
