Juicy was an American musical duo formed in 2015 by siblings Jerry Barnes, known for his work with CHIC, and Katreese Barnes, born in the United States. The pair began their musical collaboration in the early 1980s, signing with Arista Records and releasing their debut single "Don't Cha Wanna" in 1982, which established their presence in the contemporary R&B and soul scene. The same year, they issued their eponymous album Juicy, which entered the Billboard R&B chart in 1983, marking their first chart success. In 1984, the duo’s track "Beat Street Strut" was featured in the film Beat Street and its gold‑certified soundtrack, reaching Number 46 on the Billboard Dance chart in July 1984. Their second album It Takes Two arrived in 1985 and peaked at Number 13 on the Billboard R&B chart and Number 45 on the UK Singles Chart, while the single "Nobody but You" reached Number 59 on the R&B chart. A final studio effort, Spread the Love, was released in 1987 but failed to achieve commercial impact, leading to the group’s disbandment. After the duo’s dissolution, Katreese Barnes transitioned to a career as a producer, songwriter, and musical director for Saturday Night Live, earning two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics in 2007 and 2011; she passed away from breast cancer on August 3, 2019, at the age of 56.
