George Louis Pride, known as Lou Pride, was born on May 24, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois. He was an American blues and soul singer and songwriter. After serving in the United States Army, Pride relocated to El Paso, Texas, after marrying a female singer with whom he performed as part of a singing duo. Inspired by seeing B.B. King perform live, he later turned his attention to blues and soul music. His first two singles, "I'm Com'un Home In The Morn'un" (1972) and "Your Love Is Fading", were released by Suemi Records. He continued to record sporadically while performing extensively on the Chitlin' Circuit, releasing several singles, including "Look Out Love" and "We're Only Fooling Ourselves". Pride's debut album, Very Special, was released in 1980. His second album, Gone Bad For A Very Special Reason, was released in 1988. Pride died on June 5, 2012, in Chicago at the age of 68.
