Biografía

A Grammy nominee and Dove Award winner, Brandon Lake funnels a diverse, genre-jumping spread of influences into his Christian worship music. He was born as "Michael Brandon Lake" in Charleston, South Carolina, on June 21, 1990. Inspired by CCM acts like Chris Tomlin and Third Day, he started writing music and serving as a worship leader during his teenage years. Closer, his debut album, was released independently in 2016, with Lake paying for the album's production via a crowdfunding campaign. He signed with Bethel Music in 2019 and released his version of Tasha Cobbs Leonard's "This Is a Move" — a song he co-wrote for the gospel artist — that summer, reaching the Top 40 on the US Christian Songs chart for the first time. Lake's recording of "This Is a Move" won a Dove Award for "Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year," as well as a Grammy nomination for "Best Gospel Performance/Song." A full-length album, House of Miracles, followed in 2020, reaching Number 22 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart and producing the singles "I Need a Ghost" and "Just Like Heaven," both of which became Top 40 hits on the Christian charts. That same year, he appeared on Elevation Worship's "Graves Into Gardens" as a songwriter and guest singer. The duet became his first Number 1 hit on the Hot Christian Songs chart and won a GMA Award for "Worship Recorded Song of the Year." Help!, his third record, was released in 2022, with Lake billing the project as a concept album about mental health.
