Biografía

After self-releasing a number of his own indie rock records, Alex G began attracting wider notice in 2014, leading to a string of Top 10 albums on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart during the decade that followed. He was born as "Alexander Giannascoli" on February 3, 1993, and raised in Havertown, Pennsylvania. Active in various bands as a high school student, he made his official debut in 2010 with Race. Two more independent records, Winner and Rules, followed in 2011 and 2012, respectively. Alex G soon landed his first record deal, signing with Orchid Tapes in 2014 and releasing DSU later that year. The album was heralded as one of the year's best releases by publications like The Washington Post and Time Out London, and Alex G capitalized on the momentum by patterning with a more prominent label, Domino Recording Company, for his next record. Released in 2015, Beach Music reached Number 9 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart and received widespread critical acclaim. Rocket, his seventh full-length album, climbed to Number 7 on Top Heatseekers in 2017. The album also marked Alex G's first appearance on the Independent Albums chart, where it peaked at Number 23. By 2019, his audience had expanded to the UK, where House of Sugar hit Number 40 on the UK Independent Albums chart. House of Sugar was also a Top 5 entry on the Top Heatseekers chart in America, as was 2022's God Save the Animals.
