When Natalie Jane Janowski won over the American Idol judges in Washington DC with her rendition of Shawn Mendes's 2018 track "In My Blood", a star was born. The US singer-songwriter, born on 25 April 2004 in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, first drew national attention as a contestant on season 18 of American Idol in 2020, progressing to the showcase round. Following her elimination, she signed to 10K Projects and released the 2022 singles "Mentally Cheating" and "Seven" before taking things up a notch with anthemic heartbreaker "Ava", which was written with Geena Fontanella, James Miller Gulielmetti, and the song's producer, Doc Daniel (who both collaborated with Natalie Jane on "Mentally Cheating" and "Seven") and depicts a relationship rocked by suspicions of infidelity.
