Biografía

Vico C (birth name Luis Armando Lozada Cruz) is an American rapper, songwriter, and producer. He was born on September 8, 1971, in Brooklyn, NY. Vico C moved to Puerto Rico at a very early age. In 1988, he recorded his first song “No a Las Drogas” along with DJ Negro. This artistic collaboration led to the release of several other songs which established the duo in the underground rap scene. 1989 saw the release of Vico C’s debut EP La Recta Final. It was followed the next year by Misión: La Cima. In 1991, Vico C released his first full-length album Hispanic Soul; the album includes the successful single “Bomba Para Afincar” which is widely considered the first reggaeton song. Vico C released his second album Xplosion in 1993. 1996 saw the release of Con Poder, his first album of Christian material. In 1998, he released Aquel Que Había Muerto, and continued performing extensively. His tour resulted in the 2001 live album Vivo, which was awarded the Latin Grammy for Best Rap / Hip-Hop Album. Through the 2000s, he collaborated with artists such as Kumbia Kings and Sin Bandera. His 2009 album Babilla received two Latin Grammy nominations. In 2021, Vico C's 2006 hit single "La Vecinita" appeared on Don Omar’s compilation album Los Bandoleros Reloaded.
