Biografía
Intocable, in English, means Untouchable. Friends Ricky Javier Muñoz and René Orlando Martínez started the band in 1993, introducing the mainstream market to Tejano and Norteño music. With roots in world folk, the band managed to blend Mexican sounds with Western pop ballads to create their own, unique style. Throughout their career, Intocable have achieved many number one singles including Robarte In Beso, Prometi and Te Amo (Para Siempre). In 1999, tragedy brought the band's name into the headlines when Jose Ángel Farias and Silvestre Rodríguez, along with the band's tour manager José Ángel González, were killed in a car accident after their van swerved off the road. Just six months later, the remaining members of the band got themselves back out on tour and released the single El Amigo Que Se Fue, meaning The Friend That Has Left, as a tribute to the fallen band members. In 2005 they won a Grammy Award for their album Intimamente in the category Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album and again in 2011 for Classic. That same year they became the first band of their genre to be asked to play during the halftime show at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in a game against the Washington Redskins. In 2015 Intocable decided to stream a live concert to their fans, with all the proceeds being donated to St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, California.
