Biografía

Best known as lead guitarist and vocalist in the American blues rock duoThe Black Keys, Dan Auerbach has been credited with bringing back blues rock to the mainstream market. Since The Black Keys' formation in 2001 they have recorded seven studio albums and released 20 singles, six of which gained top ten entries in the US Alternative Rock Charts, with four going to number one.

Auerbach met Patrick Carney, the other half of The Black Keys, when they were just young children living in Akron, Ohio. They grew up with a shared love of music and in 2001, after being the only musicians to turn up to a recording session planned for one of Auerbach's songs, they used the resources available to them and formed a duo. They recorded a six-song EP of blues favourites and one original track and were signed to L.A. indie label Alive. They released their debut album 'The Big Come Up' the following year and made the industry sit up and take notice as they brought blues rock back to the masses. They went on to release 'Rubber Factory', 'Magic Potion', 'Attack & Release', 'Brothers', 'El Camino' and 'Turn Blue' over the next 13 years and earned themselves four number one singles. They won the BRIT Award for International Group in 2013 and again in 2015 and have also won five Grammy Awards including Best Alternative Music Album for 'Brothers' and Best Rock Song for 'Lonely Boy'.

In 2009 Auerbach embarked on a solo album project titled 'Keep It Hid'. The album did well with critics and fans and the track 'Goin' Home' was featured in the soundtrack for the 2009 film 'Up in the Air'. In 2015 he announced a side project he called The Arcs. The band, with Auerbach up front, recorded and released their debut album 'Yours, Dreamily', achieving a number 27 position in the US Charts. Still dipping his toe in his many collaborative projects, Auerbach released his second solo album in 2017, 'Waiting On a Song'.
