Biografía

Nikki Yanofsky – born Nicole Yanofsky in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on February 8, 1994 – is a jazz pop vocalist who came to prominence after a performance at the 2006 Montreal Jazz Festival at the age of 12. The following year, she made her recorded debut with the song “Air Mail Special”, a track released on the tribute album We All Love Ella: Celebrating the First Lady of Song. This recording made her the youngest artist to record for the Verve Records label. After recording a song for High School Musical 2 and collaborating with Herbie Hancock on a version of “Stompin’ at the Savoy”, she released her first album, the live CD/DVD release Ella…Of Thee I Swing. The album earned her two Juno Award nominations. Yanofsky sang the song “I Believe” for Canada’s CTV broadcast theme for the 2010 Winter Olympics. That same year, she released her solo studio album Nikki. The album reached the Number 1 spot on the Canadian Jazz Albums chart and Number 3 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. Her third album, 2014’s Little Secret, was a blending of her jazz roots with a more polished pop approach. The album was produced by Quincy Jones and Rod Temperton and reached Number 4 on the Canadian Albums chart. Little Secret featured two Top 40 Canadian Adult Contemporary hits: “Something New” and “Necessary Evil”. Yanofsky released the Solid Gold EP in 2016, which she co-wrote with producer Wyclef Jean. In July 2020, she issued her fourth full length album Turn Down the Sound, which featured “Bubbles”, the last song that producer Rod Temperton worked on before his death in 2016. Nikki Yanofsky’s next album, 2022’s Nikki by Starlight - which featured guest appearances by Nathan East and Greg Phillinganes – included singles such as “Comes Love,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “C’est Si Bon,” and “Crazy He Calls Me.”
