Biografía

Creating a fresh, modern take on old-time, country classics, Kacey
Musgraves' quirky songwriting and wicked sense of humor had enough charm, sass
and honesty to impress both the Nashville purists and the mainstream, glitzy
pop crowds. Born in Golden, Texas on August 21, 1988, she first came to
attention as a starry-eyed 19-year-old on TV talent show Nashville Star,
but rejection left her working odd jobs and playing in backroom bars, while
honing her songs through break-ups, partying, and generally growing up. Her
major label debut, 2013’s Same Trailer Different Park, captured the
spirit of a small town girl with big city dreams, raised as much on Spice Girls
hits as she was on Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline records, her twangy sound was
country to the core, but her lyrics took on the conservative South in a bubbly,
offbeat way. The album hit number 2 in the US with the single “Merry Go
'Round”
winning a Grammy Award for Best Country Song and “Follow Your
Arrow”
winning the CMA for Song of the Year. Musgraves then consolidated
her popularity on tours with Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss and Katy Perry. Her
second album Pageant Material was revealed through the release of its
lead single “Biscuits” in 2015. She was chosen to be part of the Forever
Country project which featured 30 country artists performing on a mash-up track
of “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, “On the Road Again”, and “I
Will Always Love You”
. The song was released as a single to commemorate 50
years of the CMA Awards and earned Musgraves her first number 1. Her third album,
Golden Hour was released in 2017. 2021’s Star-Crossed became her
fourth LP to top the country charts as well as her fourth to go top 5 on the
main album chart, while the single “Justified” became her eleventh top
40 country song.
