Ennik Somi Douma (March 9, 2001) is a Canadian, South Korea-based singer-songwriter that jumped to fame by winning the survival reality show Produce 101 in 2016. Born in Windsor, Ontario, to a Korean mother and a Dutch-Canadian father, she moved back with her family to Seoul when she was just six months old. In 2014, she became a trainee under JYP Entertainment. At the age of 15, she went on to win the music competition series Produce 101, securing a spot on the all-girl idol group I.O.I, which took the K-pop scene by storm with their debut EP Chrysalis in 2016. Following the group’s disbandment in 2017, Somi parted ways with JYP Entertainment and signed with YG Entertainment’s subsidiary label The Black Label, who released her debut single “Birthday” in June 2019. The track reached Number 22 on the Gaon charts and served as an auspicious beginning to her solo career. Follow-up singles “What You Waiting For” (2020) and “Dumb Dumb” further boosted her popularity, with the latter cracking the Top 10 in South Korea. Preceded by its title track, which peaked at Number 186 on the Gaon Singles Chart, her debut album XOXO arrived in October 2021.
