With his masterful blend of poetic rap and tantalizing Afro-Cuban rhythms, Yotuel Romero continues to reshape the sounds of urbano as he prepares to release the singles that will make up his second solo album in 2021. The rapper, composer, actor, and model is also the leader of the Cuban Grammy-nominated hip-hop collective, Orishas. Since his emergence into the spotlight, Yotuel has advocated a musical syncretism, while demonstrating his love of hip-hop and Cuban folklore.
Born in Havana, Cuba, he lived part of his youth as an athlete, attending a high-performance sports school. It was there that he learned the value of discipline and teamwork. “In sports I understood that the group is a collective and the team is a family. You can have a group with a lot of talent, but if they don't consider themselves a team, they never succeed,” he attests.
