Babylon Pression is a francophone Brutal Punk Metal band formed in 1998 in Marseille.
The band was inspired by the musical diversity of the 1990s, from fusion to hardcore punk and the most extreme styles.
In 2001, the band released their first EP, "Classé X" (Musicast), with a strong Rap/Metal fusion bent, and joined the Marseilles-based group "Coriace" alongside Eths, Tripod, Ed Mudshi and Fischer. The collective's dynamism enabled the group to make its first live appearances and become more professional.
In 2003, they released their first album, "Négative Génération", on Sriracha Records, still in a fusion style incorporating Ragga influences. The group embarked on the "Sriracha Tour", touring alongside other groups on the label (Loforora, Black Bomb A, Watcha, Eths), playing a number of renowned venues (Coopérative de Mai, Elysée Montmartre, etc.).
In 2007, after a line-up change, Roswell joins the band on bass following his departure from Eths.
The release of their second album "Travaille, Consomme et Meurs" (Coriace Records) marked the beginning of a musical shift, with the band breaking away from the "Neo Metal / Frenchcore" style with a resolutely more Rock'n'Roll album.
Mat Peq, now the band's sole singer, takes advantage of this new dynamic to refine his writing style and tackle serious themes in a dark, cynical tone.
The band will defend this album on stage across Europe, as far afield as Romania.
In 2011, the band embarked on a "Do It Yourself" approach with their third album, "Allez Tous Vous Faire Foutre" (Babylon Mouvement).
A resolutely Punk album with Bluesy and Rock'n'Roll influences, its title sums up the rage unleashed in the lyrics of each track.
A true collector's item, this album will be hand-made, screen-printed by Mat Peq (Elvisdead), signed and numbered.
The band's fourth album, "Heureux d'être content" (Deadlight Records) was released in 2017.
A concept album depicting a gallery of characters who are by turns actors and spectators of their own downfall, it's a real dirty cotton swab in a clean ear, supported by a Punk Rock / Hardcore sound that the band has now fully assumed.
The year 2023 marks the band's 25th anniversary, as well as the release of their new album, "Rock Warrior", a 357 Magnum loaded with six explosive cartridges and a polished production addressing a theme dear to the band: social violence in all its forms.
The album includes the eponymous track "Rock Warrior" in collaboration with IAM, an adaptation of the Marseilles rap group's "Rap Warrior" in a metal version reminiscent of the glory days of 90s US collaborations (Slayer & Ice-t / Anthrax & Public Enemy).
