Born in 1946, Jean-François Michaël is the man behind a hit: the slow song "Adieu jolie Candy", written by Michel Hamburger alias Michel Berger, sold five million copies in 1968. The singer, whose real name was Yves Roze, was hired by Barclay for his powerful voice and romantic allure. An overnight star, he went on to record a score of EPs and singles up until the 1980s, without ever finding success again. After a career in artistic production (he produced Stéphanie de Monaco's"Ouraga " in 1985), he retired, announcing that he was suffering from cancer. The Jean-François Michaël compilation, released in 2008, sums up his career.
