From a very small step of four students from The Demonstration School of Silpakorn University until becoming the runners up band of ‘Hot Wave Music Award’ (High Scholl Band Contest) , all of this has lead them to the path of their debut with the self-titled album under a new band name: Slot Machine (2004). There were changes during their second album “Mutation” (2006), from a 4-member-band to a 5-member-band. They were back as a 4-member-band again during the third album “Grey” (2008). The band reached a new level of their career when releasing the album named “Cell” (2011), the fourth album which won both critics and fans’ hearts. Doubtlessly, Slot Machine has been considered one of the best rock bands in this era.
From their first debut until now, it took Slot Machine 10 years of experience, changes and keeping on developing their own unique sounds consist of a great combination of Thai and modern rock. Slot Machine has come back again with their brand new album, a work piece as beautiful as rainbow that was crafted from their creative imagination and hard work. “Rainbow” is picked as a title of their fifth studio album.
On this album, both Slot Machine and their label “BEC-Tero Music” have agreed to mark it as a high quality-made album which would create a new standard for Thai music scene. Slot Machine spent huge amount of time in and out BEC-Tero Music office in order to represent and sharpen their ideas for this brand new album under the supervision of Po Posayanukul, A&R Director who was in charge in music direction and the album as a whole.
It took more than half a year for each demo to be developed and refined to reach a standard. After they have the perfect demo, the recording session had started. Slot Machine chose to record their album at Karma Sound Studio, one of the leading recording studios in Thailand guaranteed by experiences working with many world class artists like Jamiroquai, Bullet for My Valentine, Placebo and many more. This recording session was totally different from their former albums. The four members had to gather and spend so much time working, sleeping and eating together in the studio for a whole month with Daniel Denholm, a skillful producer from Australia who had worked with 30 Seconds To Mars and Barry Gibbs.
The final work piece was sent to both USA and Australia for mixing. Then the mastering which was the final process was done in Sterling Sound, New York (a mastering studio that was trusted by world class artists such as Coldplay, U2, The Eagles and The Beatles). Altogether, Slot Machine’s studio 5th album, Rainbow was born.
