Rare were a Northern Irish electronic ensemble from Derry established in 1990. The group consisted of the musicians Mary Gallagher, Locky Morris, Seán Ó'Néill, and David Whiteside. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized as trip hop. Ó'Néill achieved professional recognition for performing as a member of the ensemble The Undertones and the ensemble That Petrol Emotion. Their recording career began with the song “Set Me on Fire” (1990) released on the label Setanta Records. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the song “Something Wild” (1996) which reached number 57 in the United Kingdom. Their discography included the song “Don't Make Me Wait” (1996) and the song “Killer” (1997). Rare achieved professional recognition for the song “Seems Like” (1998) and the debut studio recording Peoplefreak (1998). The ensemble became inactive in 1998.
