South Korean singer, songwriter, and actress Kim Yong-sun (born on February 21, 1991, in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, South Korea), known as Solar, made her debut as a vocalist in girl group Mamamoo on June 18, 2014, alongside Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa. Her solo journey commenced on April 24, 2018, with the release of her first solo EP, titled Solar's Emotion. This EP featured previously released covers of various Korean pop songs and her solo rendition of Mamamoo's “Star Wind Flower Sun," which she penned herself. Officially marking her solo debut, Solar released the single "Spit It Out," accompanied by a music video, on April 23, 2020. The track achieved the second position on the Korean charts. On March 16, 2022, Solar unveiled her first mini-album, 容: Face, featuring the lead single "Honey." The mini-album received favorable reviews from critics and landed at number 7 on the Korean charts. Additionally, "Honey" was recognized as one of the 'Best K-pop Tracks of 2022' by British magazine Dazed. In October 2022, Solar collaborated with Yesung on the single "After Love" as part of the Casting in the Corner project. The song, a remix of the 2006 version, was released on October 20. Further expanding her musical endeavors, Solar announced on March 10, 2023, that she would be singing "Eternal" for the drama Pandora: Beneath the Paradise. The song, released on March 12, 2023, served as the drama's opening song and first soundtrack. On September 22, 2023, it was revealed that Solar would contribute to the show The Escape of the Seven with her track “EXIT”. On January 10, 2024, Solar unveiled the return of her Solar Emotion Project after 5 years and 9 months. This project commenced with Solar Emotion Part.7, featuring her rendition of the late Kim Kwang-seok's song "사랑했지만" (“Love Has Gone”). The record peaked at number 22 on the Top 100 K-pop Album charts in Korea.
