Enigmatic producer Repsaj began making waves in Brazil’s phonk and funk underground in the early 2020s, building his reputation through gritty bootleg edits and self-released singles like “RITMO DE VERAO” and “MONTAGEM CONTIGO.” His growing signature sound—marked by heavy 808s, chopped vocals, and nostalgic samples—culminated in the April 2025 MONTAGEM BAILÃO EP, a 5-track project in collaboration with ATLXS and MC Jhey that quickly went viral. The lead title track “MONTAGEM BAILÃO” dominated streaming platforms with its multiple versions (“Slowed,” “Super Slowed,” “Sped Up”) and has amassed over 26 million views, helped by a vibrant social media phonk dance trend. Released on June 23, 2025 via Rubix Records, the EP’s success solidified Repsaj’s status as a genre-bending producer bridging funk carioca’s infectious energy with phonk’s dark retro aesthetic.
