Working for a Nuclear Free City, often abbreviated WFANFC, was an indie nu gaze band from Manchester, England. The group formed in 1999 as a studio entity with Phil Kay on production and keyboard, and Gary McClure on guitar. They began performing live in 2004 after adding drummer Jon Kay and bassist Ed Hulme. Their self-titled debut album was released in the UK in 2006, with tracks also featured on their debut American release, Businessmen & Ghosts, in November 2007. The band's sound drew from diverse influences and received critical acclaim. They performed at the Carling Weekend's Leeds Festival in 2007 and contributed "Silent Melody" to the video game Infamous in 2009. Their third album, Jojo Burger Tempest, was released in October 2010. In 2016, they released their final album, What Do People Do All Day?.
