Alek Syntek y La Gente Normal was a Mexican band formed in 1989, consisting of Aleks Syntek, León Chiprut, and Michel Rojkind. The band's debut album, ¡Hey tú!, released in 1990 by EMI Music, featured the singles "Unos quieren subir" and "Una pequeña parte de ti". Their second album, Más fuerte de lo que pensaba (1993), achieved significant commercial success with over 250,000 copies sold. The album included notable collaborations with Sabo Romo of Caifanes and Ray Manzarek of The Doors, and featured the hit single "Mis impulsos sobre ti". In 1995, Chiprut left the group to pursue photography, and the band released Bienvenido a la vida, which showcased more experimental electronic sounds. Their final album, Lugar secreto (1997), continued this direction but faced declining sales, leading EMI to terminate their contract. Syntek went on to compose the soundtrack for the film Sexo, pudor y lágrimas.
