Cassidy Durango Milton Willy Podell, born on 27 June 1981 in New York's Upper East Side, is an American DJ and record producer known professionally as DJ Cassidy. From an early age, he cultivated a passion for hip‑hop and turntablism, receiving two turntables and a mixer for his tenth birthday and performing at school carnivals before advancing to nightclubs during his senior year. His career breakthrough came when Sean Combs discovered him during a GQ party, leading to high‑profile engagements at celebrity weddings such as those of Beyoncé and Jay‑Z, and award shows. DJ Cassidy’s discographic debut began with the single "Calling All Hearts" in 2014, featuring Robin Thicke, Jessie J, and a lineup of legendary session musicians, followed by "Make The World Go Round" the same year. He released the US dance chart-topping "Kill The Lights" single on 15 April 2016 with Alex Newell and Jess Glynne, featuring Nile Rodgers. Throughout the 2010s he performed at major events, including President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration, Oprah Winfrey’s South African school opening, and the 2021 inauguration of President Joe Biden, providing music for the Democratic National Convention roll‑call in 2024.
