Monocordio, the musical project of Mexican writer and musician Fernando Rivera Calderón, emerged in 2001 as an intimate exploration of life's emotions through poetic lyrics and distinctive pop-rock arrangements. Their self-titled debut album, m0n0c0rd10 (2002), introduced songs like "Amar Es Combatir," which featured in the film Así del Precipicio (2006). The follow-up album, La Hora del Tiempo (2005), produced by Sr. González, included the title track that became the theme for Canal Once's series Fonda Susilla. In 2006, Monocordio released the EP El Primer Rayo de Sol, featuring "Siempre te Busqué," which received airplay on Reactor 105.7. 2010 found the group participating in the Brindando a José Alfredo Jiménez tribute LP with a cover of "Deja Que Salga la Luna." Celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2021, Monocordio performed at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris, highlighting their enduring presence in Mexico's pop-rock scene. The show was captured in the 2022 live release XX Años, which was followed by Monocordio's eighth full-length Buscar Sin Encontrar in 2024.
