Rosa Aurelia Guerra Morales was born on 3 January 1969 in Lago Valencia, Las Piedras, Madre de Dios, Peru, and later adopted the stage name Rossy War. Growing up in a small village, she began singing with local groups and eventually moved to Lima at seventeen, where she pursued studies in executive secretariat and nursing while continuing to perform. Rossy War entered the professional music scene in 1984 with the technocumbia group Los Bio Chips, contributing to hits such as “La Teleparranda” and “Carmín”. In the mid-1990s she recorded her first albums with Como la Flor and Cositas del Amor, which gained regional attention. The formation of Rossy War y Su Banda Kaliente in 1997, under the self-established label Fama Record, marked a pivotal moment; the group issued the albums Como un Dulce Poema (1997), Las Huellas de Tu Amor (1998), and Secreto de Amor (1999), featuring singles such as “Nunca pensé llorar”, “Amor prohibido”, and “Las huellas de tu amor”. Rossy War toured extensively across Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Venezuela. After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, she returned in 2011 with new material under the renamed La Orquesta Kaliente, releasing singles like “Lo peor” and “Maldigo tu traición” continuing her career and influence in the cumbia and technocumbia scenes.
