A retro blues-rock band that are famous for strutting grooves, chugging riffs and squealing solos, Blues Pills came together when half-brothers Zak Anderson and Cory Berry of Iowa group Radio Moscow met Swedish singer Elin Larsson in California and started to jam together. A hastily recorded demo posted to YouTube landed them a deal with Crusher Records and they relocated to Orebro, Sweden to kick-start their journey as a band. Recruiting French guitarist Dorian Sorriaux and naming themselves after a music blog, they gigged relentlessly across Europe before their self-titled debut album drew inspiration from Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin and Cream. Support slots with Rival Schools and appearances at a host of festivals further cemented their reputation for '60s and '70s vintage rock and their second album Lady in Gold went on to reach number 31 in the UK Albums Chart. More psychedelia and soul influences emerged as the band grew, with the cover for Lady In Gold created by Dutch artist Marijke Koger-Dunham, famous for the colourful, trippy artwork of Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Eric Clapton.
