Shamrain, a Finnish dark-rock band, was formed in October 2000 by Matti Reinola and Janne Jukarainen. The group released their first EP later that year but lacked a vocalist until Mika Tauriainen joined the following year. After signing with Watch Me Fall Records, Shamrain's debut album Empty World Excursion was published in 2003, which received positive reviews. In June 2005, they signed with Firebox Records and released Someplace Else. This was followed by a contract with Spikefarm Records, under which their third album, Goodbye to All That, came out in October 2007. The band's fourth studio album, Isolation, saw the inclusion of singer Minna Sihvonen and was released in September 2011. Stylistically, Shamrain are known for blending atmospheric rock with dark and gothic elements, incorporating keyboards and effects to create a melancholic atmosphere. Their music has drawn comparisons to artists like Radiohead and The Cure.
