Anirudh Ravichander was born the son of actor Ravi Raghavendra. With a background in Indian cinema, Ravichander combined this with his love of music to become a soundtrack composer. His first score was for the film '3' in 2012, directed by his cousin Aishwarya R. Dhanush. A track from his next film 'Why This Kolaveri Di!' was leaked in 2011, promoting Ravichander's music to a wider online audience. In 2013 he worked on the score for the Tamil film 'David' followed by 'Vanakkam Chennai' and 'Irandam Ulagam'. Further Ravichander scores include 'Velaiyilla Pattathari' (2014), 'Maan Karate' (2014), 'Kaththi' (2014), 'Kaaki Sattai' (2015), 'Thangamagan' (2015), 'Rum' (2017), 'Thaanaa Serndha Koottam' (2018) and 'Thumbaa' (2019). In 2020 he was approached to score 'Darbar' by director A.R. Murugadoss, who also directed 'Kaththi' and 'Maan Karate'.
