In 2011, half-brothers Zack Anderson (bass) and Cory Berry (drums), ex-Radio Moscow, crossed paths with Sweden's Elin Larsson in California. A decisive encounter with a singer whose timbre and ardor recall those of glorious elders Janis Joplin and Grace Slick. An ideal profile to create Blues Pills, a band inspired by hard rock and psychedelic rock. The line-up was soon completed by the arrival of young French guitarist Dorian Sorriaux, then barely sixteen. Armed with the EPs Bliss (2012) and Devil Man (2013), the band racked up festival appearances. With André Kvarnström replacing Cory Berry as drummer, Blues Pills released their namesake debut album in 2014. Blues Pills was an immediate success, particularly in Germany. The quartet outdid themselves in 2015 with the release of Blues Pills - Live, before returning to the studio to concoct what became a new benchmark for the blues rock genre. Released in August 2016, Lady in Gold snagged the number-one sales spot in Germany, and charted in many European countries. Like its predecessor, it is complemented by an account of the promotional tour: Lady in Gold - Live in Paris, in 2017 . The following year, the band lost one of its members, Dorian Sorriaux. Zack Anderson stepped down from his bass to fill the gap on guitar. Shortly afterwards, the arrival of bassist Kristoffer Schander was made official. The band took the opportunity to announce the arrival of a third album, Holy Moly! which reached number four in the German charts and number six in Austria in 2020 (after a two-month postponement due to the Covid epidemic). Four years later, Blues Pills are back, ten years after their debut, with Birthday , which ranks twelfth in Germany and fourteenth in Switzerland.
