A progressive metal band with an international reputation, Myrath were initially formed in 2001 by Tunisian guitarist Malek Ben Arbia and lead singer Tarek Idouani under the X-Tazy moniker. They welcomed keyboardist and singer Elyes Bouchoucha in 2003 and two years later, the Double Face EP was confidentially distributed in Tunisia, attracting the attention of French label Bremmis Music. The band, now renamed Myrath, worked with producer Kevin Codfert to record their debut album Hope (2007), before recruiting Zaher Zorgati as their new vocalist, who brought Arab-inspired vocal inflections to their metal aesthetic. Building on this originality, Myrath recorded the albums Desert Call (2010) and Tales of the Sands (2011), released on XIII Bis Records. In 2012, drummer Morgan Berthet left the band Eths to join Myrath, accompanying them for their European festival tour and first American concert, which took place at ProgPower USA in Atlanta in 2013. After signing with the Verycords label, Myrath recorded the studio album Legacy (2016) and returned to Tunisia the following year to perform a concert at the historic site of the Théâtre de Carthage, resulting in the live album Live in Carthage (2020). Myrath's fifth studio album, Shehili was previously released on the earMusic label in March 2019. They went on to tour with Dutch band Epica, who invited Zaher Zorgati to contribute to their album Omega (2021). As a quartet without Elyes Bouchoucha, the band released the album Karma in 2024, which ranked 160th in France.
