British rock band FM, formed in London during the summer of 1984, initially consisted of bassist Merv Goldsworthy and drummer Pete Jupp from Samson, vocalist/guitarist Steve Overland and lead guitarist Chris Overland from Wildlife, and keyboardist Philip Manchester from The Invaders. By December 1984, FM had secured a recording contract with CBS/Portrait after writing six songs. Their first public appearance in the UK was on Valentine’s Day 1985 at London's Marquee Club. The band released their debut album Indiscreet and single "Frozen Heart" in 1986, followed by extensive European tours supporting acts like Tina Turner and Foreigner. In 1987, FM recorded theme songs for the animated series The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers. After CBS folded Portrait label, they switched to Epic Records and released Tough It Out in 1989, produced by Neil Kernon. Chris Overland left the band soon after, replaced by Andy Barnett. In 1991, FM moved to Music For Nations and released "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" and Aphrodisiac. After a series of acoustic concerts in 1992, Jem Davis joined as a full-time keyboardist. However, the band disbanded after releasing Dead Man's Shoes in 1995. FM reunited in 2007 at Firefest festival and released their first new album since reuniting, Metropolis, in 2010. The band continued to release albums including Rockville (2013), Heroes and Villains (2015), Indiscreet 30 (2016), Atomic Generation (2018), The Italian Job (2019), Thirteen (2022) and Old Habits Die Hard (2024).
