A mixed history brought the line-up of Culture Club together, in the wake of both a personnel change and numerous band name changes. However, in 1981 the group were as solid as they were ever going to be. Despite being turned down by EMI, they were snapped up by Virgin Records a year later. They began releasing music almost immediately but it wasn't until their third single 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me' was released that the band hit the big time.
The track flew to the top of charts, with their debut album 'Kissing to Be Clever' following close behind. They were on a roll, repeatedly releasing chart topping tunes in the UK and the US with 'Karma Chameleon' - a single from their second album 'Colour By Numbers' - being no exception. A further album and greater success followed before the band succumbed to the toils of the rock scene in 1987; Boy George's heroin addiction scaled new heights and his relationship with band member Jon Moss was on the rocks. After serving four months in prison, Boy George celebrated his freedom with a series of concerts and in 2011 announced plans for a Culture Club reunion. They played two concerts in Dubai and Sydney and revealed their plan to release new material. In 2014 Culture Club played eleven dates in the UK before releasing their sixth studio album 'Life' in 2018.
