Biyografi

Guitarist and vocalist Peter Brugger, bassist Andi Erhard, and drummer Florian Weber formed the Bavarian pop-oriented indie-rock group Sportfreunde Stiller in Germering in 1995, initially calling themselves Stiller after their former football coach Hans Stiller, before settling on their current name. After bassist Andi Erhard was replaced by Rüdiger "Rüde" Linhof in 1997, the trio got to work on their debut album and released So wie einst Real Madrid ("Like Real Madrid Once") into the wild in 2000, going to number 46 in Germany. They kept the sports theme running and charted even higher with their second album, Die gute Seite ("The Good Side") – which went to number six in Germany and with the football-inspired "Independent" bagging a coveted spot on the videogame FIFA 2003. Their next two albums – 2004's Burli and 2006's You Have to Win Zweikampf (2006) –  also made it into the German and Austrian top ten. In 2006, the band wrote "'54, '74, '90, 2006", as a fan chant for the German World Cup squad and went to number one for their efforts. Hot on the heels of this, they achieved their first number-one for follow-up album La Bum in 2007. They were nominated five times for Best German Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards (2002, 2004, 2006, 2009) and went double platinum with MTV Unplugged in New York in 2009. After four years off, Sportfreunde Stiller re-emerged in 2013 with New York, Rio, Rosenheim, which went to number two in Germany, topped the Austrian charts, and was followed by an extensive tour. Following this, they went on hiatus until October 2016 when they made their return with Sturm & Stille, marking their first chart-topping album in Germany since the release of La Bum. Following another fallow period, they made a comeback in 2022 with new album Jeder nur ein X, going to number seven in Germany.
