Planet Funk is an Italian electronic/rock band formed in 1999 by keyboardists Marco Baroni and Alex Neri, bassist Sergio Della Monica and guitarist Domenico Canu. It also includes, as required, vocalists such as Dan Black, Sally Doherty, Raiz and John Graham. In 2001, the band made a name for themselves with "Chase the Sun", their biggest hit, charting at No. 5 in the UK with a melody borrowed from Ennio Morricone. The song, which became the theme tune for a Sky Sports TV show, became an anthem for darts competitions. The next single, "Inside All the People", is a hit in Italy, reaching No. 5. These two tracks, along with "Who Said (Stuck in the UK)", were included on Planet Funk's debut album, Non Zero Sumness, released in 2002 and reaching No. 15 in Italy. The following album, The Illogical Consequence, was released in 2005 and reached No. 4, while Planet Funk remixed New Order's "Waiting for the Siren's Call". In 2006, Planet Funk became the first band to offer a track for download from a cell phone with "Stop Me", and the same year released the album Static, featuring a track sung by Jovanotti. In 2009, the band called on John Graham and Dan Black for the vocal parts of the Planet Funk album, followed two years later by The Great Shake, with the participation of singer and guitarist Alex Uhlmann. After the release of the single "We-People " in 2015, in support of the Save the Children campaign, the compilation 20:20, released in 2020, includes the track "One Step Closer" performed by Jim Kerr, lead singer of the band Simple Minds. Its remixed version, 20:20 Remixes, followed the same year. In 2023, Planet Funk returned with a new single entitled "The World's End", and in 2024 offered its version of the pop classic "Nights in White Satin".
