Latin Grammy-nominated rock en Español group Elefante formed in Mexico City in the early 1990s. Originally comprised of lead singer-songwriter Reyli Barba, along with musicians Ahis (keyboards and acoustic guitar) “Iguana” (drums), Javi Cantero (vocals), Rafael “Rafa” López” (guitar and harmonica) and "G. Tracks" (bass), the band released their breakthrough debut album, El Que Busca Encuentra in 2001. The LP was nominated for Best Vocal Rock Album by a Duo or Group and the album track "That's Life" was nominated for Best Rock Song at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2002. Elefante's second album Lo Que Andábamos Buscando was released in 2002, but the following year Barba quit the band to go solo. After taking on new lead singer Jorge Guevara (ex-vocalist for Caos), Elefante released their third self-titled album in 2005. Their 2007 album, Resplandor, featured another lineup change, with newly appointed vocalist Javier Ortega (Javi) replacing Guevara after he decided to go solo. 2012 saw the release of the E: 87600 album on Elefante's own label, Marila Récords, and in 2020 they put out two new albums, Sinfónico and En Vivo.
