Heinz Rudolf Erich Arthur Kunze (born November 30, 1956 in Espelkamp-Mittwald) is a rock singer, songwriter, author and musical lyricist. Heinz Rudolf Kunze's artistic career began in the early 1980s. His debut album Reine Nervensache was released in 1981, but the time was not yet ripe for the singer's poetic songs. It was not until 1985 that Heinz Rudolf Kunze became a star overnight. With the single "Dein Ist Mein Ganzes Herz", he landed a mega-hit and made it to number 8 in the German charts. The album of the same name also made it into the top 10 at number 8. The following albums Wunderkinder (1986), Einer Für Alle (1988), Gute Unterhaltung (1989) and Brille all reached top positions in the German charts. At this time, Heinz Rudolf Kunze, together with Herbert Grönemeyer and Marius Müller-Westernhagen, was one of the most important German artists. In the meantime, the singer has also made a name for himself as a translator of internationally successful musicals. Heinz Rudolf Kunze provides the lyrics for the German versions of the musicals Les Misérables, Miss Saigon and Joseph And the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Heinz Rudolf Kunze has also been working with the Dutch artist Hermann van Veen since the end of the 1980s and regularly writes songs for the Dutchman's albums. In 1986, 1999 and 2007, Heinz Rudolf Kunze was awarded the Golden Tuning Fork for his music. In 2021, Heinz Rudolf Kunze releases his 29th studio album Werdegang. On it, the singer interprets his best-known songs in a modern guise.
