Minas’ longevity speaks for itself. In their four decade career as independent recording artists, performers, and composers, Orlando and Patricia have produced 8 albums and enchanted audiences with their artistry and warmth, reflecting a perfect musical marriage with a stage chemistry that only a lifetime can produce.
Minas blends Brazilian and American roots to create an innovative sound, with ballads tinged with melancholic Blues and Choro, Folk coasting on the subtle coolness of Bossa Nova, and upbeat Sambas engaging jazz improvisation and scat singing.
Minas formed in 1978 and toured the United States and Brazil before releasing their first vinyl Num Dia Azul in 1983, now a collector’s album.
Their concert work and recording projects, from the duo, to ensemble, to orchestra and big band, have placed Minas in high demand. Orlando and Patricia’s collection of over 100 original songs have been compared to classics by Cole Porter and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
