Omavi Ammu Minder, known as Mavi, was born on October 7, 1999, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is an American rapper who emerged in 2014 as a member of the North Carolina music collective KILLSWITCH. Mavi's breakthrough came in 2019 with the release of his debut solo album, Let the Sun Talk, which drew inspiration from Five-Percent Nation ideologies, and his guest appearance on Earl Sweatshirt's EP Feet of Clay. His musical style is characterized by existential, poetic lyrics and a laid-back delivery, often accompanied by soul-sample heavy instrumentals. His influences include MF Doom and Prodigy of Mobb Deep. His discography also includes extended plays such as End of the Earth (2021) and collaborative albums with KILLSWITCH. He has since released additional albums, including Laughing So Hard, It Hurts in 2022, and Shadowbox in 2024.
