With their bold approach to string music and exciting stage presence, Fuse is a one-to-watch formation on the cutting edge of Dutch musical life. The Amsterdam-based sextet performed over 1200 shows at a wide range of stages in The Netherlands and abroad. Utilizing their signature line-up (a string quartet with double bass and drums) the band is able to evolve from their classical and jazz roots and bring a unique style to the stage. Both improvised and written music are organically part of the band's energetic, technically complex but catching live sets.
Fuse finds it's origins as trailblazers of a new classical music movement in Amsterdam in 2012. Against the background of a crumbling cultural landscape, a group of like-minded music students start their own concerts series. For two years Fuse hosted monthly club-nights, which became an important kick-off for the young ensemble. Ever since, Fuse played stages such as The Concertgebouw, SXSW, Eurosonic and Wigmore Hall and was awarded the Dutch Edison Public Choice Award. Since 2015, Fuse is the house band on a Dutch TV-show about classical music and related genres, where they showcase their favorite music.
Their eclectic 2024 release “Mikrokosmos” sets a new mark for the group and was collaboratively created by Fuse and composers and songwriters such as Bryce Dessner (The National), Miho Hazama (M-Unit/Metropole Orchestra), Gabriel Kahane, Joey Roukens and Gabriella Smith among others
